In addition to assessing at Regional and National Challenges, there are some great
opportunities for our assessors to attend overseas challenges for the World Rescue
Organisation and to also join our training teams on International Development Projects
across the globe.
Assessor Criteria
Have a minimum 5 years of rescue or pre-hospital medical experience as an operator
or trainer.
If the individual is FRS personnel, they must be serving within a UK Fire and Rescue
Service or have served within the preceding 12 month period.
Hold nationally recognised qualifications in pre-hospital care or equivalent (Medical
Assessor Only).
Hold the national qualification of RTCI or equivalent (Command/Technical Assessors
Only).
Hold nationally recognised qualifications as an instructor/trainer/assessor (i.e. A1
Assessor or equivalent).
If the individual is FRS personnel, that they have signed authority to participate from
their employer.
Have individual or financial support from their employer for travel, subsistence and
accommodation for attendance at Extrication Challenges and Annual Workshops
as required.
It is desirable criteria but not essential for Exterior Assessors to have experience of
taking part in Rescue Challenges as a competitor.
Interior Assessors (Medical):
Have the suitable demeanour and ability to enable an appropriate response
consistent with the injury pattern(s) of any given Rescue Challenge scenario.
Very good communication skills.
A sound basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology
Hold a current nationally recognised Basic Life Support (BLS) qualification or
equivalent.
To be physically fit and free from any physical or psychological condition which
would prevent them from undertaking the role of a casualty in a RTC scenario.
Hold nationally recognised qualifications as an instructor/trainer/assessor.
It is desirable criteria but not essential for Interior Assessors to be employed in the
medical or pre-hospital care environment and are involved in training in the pre-hospital
care environment.
