The International Development Programme (IDP) has been established by the United Kingdom Rescue Organisation to assist and share experience with rescue and medical services around the world.

The Programme

The programme meets the key objectives of the WRO by `providing a platform for rescue personnel throughout the world to share and advance rescue science and technology and to develop and enhance proficiency in vehicle rescue, incident command and medical care

The aim of the UKRO IDP is to identify and work along side countries who wish to develop their vehicle rescue and pre-hospital care capability.

How It Works

Potential countries, known as IDP Focus Countries, are identified by various means, including direct approach from the countries themselves, nomination by our partners and by means of road death and injury statistics. Following initial contact, a survey of current procedures, practices and resources will be undertaken. On completion of the initial research period each Focus Country is categorised under one of three development levels by doing so the IDP is able to develop a strategy designed specifically to assist with that particular counties needs.

More Information

It is central to the aims of the IDP and our international partners that all projects undertaken result in outcomes that are appropriate, effective and sustainable in reducing road death and injury.
