TEAM DETAILS

The town of Whitianga is a small sea side town located on the eastern side of the Coromandel peninsula which is in the North Island of New Zealand.

Whitianga has a permanent population of approximately 4000, but over the summer Christmas/New Year holidays this swell’s to over 40,000, when all the tourists flock to our golden beaches for their summer holidays.

The Whitianga brigade has 35 members made up of 28 firefighters and 7 operational support members. We operate a pumping appliance, a rescue tender appliance and an operational support van.

Our Road Crash Rescue team has competed since the year 2000, this year’s team had the privilege of competing at last year’s Australasian Road Rescue Challenge held in Hamilton New Zealand and for the first time won this challenge giving the team the right to compete at this year’s World Challenge in Cape Town South Africa.

We look forward to making a lot of new friends and learning new rescue techniques.
